Yakolev OKB museum

From: fx34@cityscape.co.uk (Brian Elliott)

A quick report from my visit to the Yakolev OKB museum back in September 1993.

Just off Leningradsky Prospect, and very close to the Moscow Central Airfield, can be found the premises of the Yakolev OKB. During MosAero93, I was one of a party of enthusiasts who made a visit to the OKB museum. The museum itself is in a long narrow room with the aircraft being arranged in fairly close proximity to one another. The room is well lit from one sode but not lit well enough for decent photography.

There are also a large number of display cabinets showing models, photographs and relics from the OKB's distinguished history.

In September 1993, the museum contained the following aircraft:

    unmarked AIR-1
    unmarked UT-1
    3 yellow UT-2
    unmarked Yak-6
    unmarked Yak-9
    SSSR-05275 Yak-12A
    37 yellow Yak-15
    unmarked Yak-18
SSSR-81434 Yak-18T (carries Paris Air Show code 368)
    unmarked Yak-38
The Yak-141 that had crashed, and had been rebuilt to static display standard, was usually to be found outside the building under a cover but, at the time of my visit, had been moved to the museum at Khodynka for display at the MosAero93 historic aircraft display.

Any help in identifying the aircraft (particularly the Yak-38) gratefully received.
