AIRLINE PILOT LICENSE COURSES

This is information package to get a Airline Transport Pilot License at Aero Club Milano FTO.   1. GROUND AND FLIGHT COURSE.
    Aero Club Milano FTO organizes 2 courses each year for Airline Transport Pilot License. The courses comprise of two parts: ground- and flight training. Normally the courses start mid-January, April, June and September. The students will be promptly advised for class dates and times, to allow for personal planning.

  2. FLIGHT ACTIVITY

  3. AIRPLANES.
    Any airplane may be used for training if included in the following categories.
    • AIRPLANES TO BE USED FOR TRAINING.
      • Single-engine airplanes, non necessarily certified for training, and IFR-certified airplanes.
      • Airplanes without any class- and type limitation, non necessarily certified for training or listed in FTO-operated fleet.
    • AIRPLANES TO BE USED FOR EXAM.
      • IFR-certified airplanes, non necessarily certified for training or listed in FTO-operated fleet.
  4. FINAL EXAM.
    As soon as required skill and minimum flight activity is reached, an exam internal to the FTO is performed. If exam is passed, candidate is required to pass an exam in front of an Aviation Authority commission to have license issued. Exam is both theory (multiple-choice questions form) and practical (cross-country flight).
  5. COSTS.
    Average cost, depending on selected course, is from 5.000,- € to 60.000,- €: some variability depends on student's disposition and proficiency. Expense is strictly related to flight activity and may be diluted over the whole training timeframe: any student is assigned an account to charge costs on to be covered by cash in advance.
  6. REQUIREMENTS.
    Airplane pilots do not need to be Superman. All it takes is normal health, not to be afflicted by any cronic or disabling diseaese. Sight may be corrected by lenses. No criminal prosecution in act. Minimum age to attend courses is 17. Exam may be attended only after reaching 18.
  7. DOCUMENTS.
    Since ATPL(A) is a legal document, it is necessary to open a folder at ENAC (Italian Aviation Authority) including the following documents and certificates. Burocratic part is managed by Aero Club Milano under student's delegation and is part of services offered by the Club.
    • LIST OF DOCUMENTS FOR ATPL(A)
      • BIRTH CERTIFICATE (Self-Certification is also accepted).
      • LETTER OF CREDENTIALS FOR ITALIAN AIR FORCE MEDICAL INSTITUTES. Italian AF Medical Institutes issue first medical certificates only to candidates introduced by Aero Clubs and FTOs. Our Secretariat supplies such a letter for free as well as coordinates for payment of services offered by Institutes.
      • MEDICAL CERTIFICATE, I CLASS - Issued by IAF Medical Institute.
      • N. 1 CARD-PICTURE - Recent, possibly color.
      • FOR STUDENTS UNDER 18: Parents authorization.
  8. APPLICATION.
    Aero Club Milano helps the candidate in handling the documents necessary to get the medical. Application is finalized and relevant fees are paid only after the medical certificate has been issued. Club's Board confirms application according to Statute. Applicant must pay association and course fee before beginning to attend lessons and training. The student will then be assigned a flight instructor, together with whom the training flights will be scheduled.
